Thrashers 2020 Draft Class

Thrashers continue trend of drafting players too small for their own good

#7 - Marco Rossi.  120 pts in 56 games, OHL's Most Outstanding Player of the Year, OHL's top scorer, Coaches' Poll: eastern conference smartest player, best playmaker, best shootout scorer, #2 best faceoffs, #2 best defensive forward, #3 best penalty killer... the kid has it all.  Brayden Point was so good for the Thrashers, GM Lau just had to draft himself another one

#32 - JJ Peterka.  Speed speed speed.  And he has good enough hands to score lacrosse goals, models game after Patrick Kane but doesn't have much in the way of playmaking

#45 - Tristen Robins - another 200 ft Bryaden Point type.  Was buried behind older players for the first half of the season.  Once older guys were traded away, Robins took the 1st line center role and ran away with it to the tune of 54 pts in 33 games... 2nd in the WHL to only Seth Jarvis

#55 - Kasper Simontaival - small, fast, deadly shot... 57 pts in 48 games in Finnish U-20 and currently 7 pts in 5 games in Finnish 2nd tier Mestis

#73 - Michael Benning - small defender, 75 pts in 54 games on a stacked team, in a lower level league... will have to prove himself at the NCAA level

#88 - Veeti Miettinen -  small (see a trend?) , 73 pts in 52 games, 42 of which are goals.  Dominated the Finnish U-20 even more than Simontaival, but had limited exposure and unable to play pro games due to commitment to the NCAA

#97 - Tyler Tullio - consensus ranked late 2nd round pick.  Likely fell cuz of small (yes) size and ho-hum pt per game numbers.  Word is he put on 15 pounds in the off season

#98 - Calle Clang - the stereotypical random jab at a goalie late in the draft.  Didn't get as much attention with 2021 lottery phenom Jesper Wallstedt domoinating swedish eyeballs.  Well at least he's 6'2 (shrug)

#112 - Thimo Nickl - he's Austrian!  Nobody drafted more Austrians than the Thrashers

#117 - Elliot Desnoyers - Random guy on the 4th line of possibly the best team in junior hockey last season.  Traded to Halifax and exploded so far with 11G, 9A in 12 games so far in a starring role
